Stan
In the video Stan Eminem chooses a unique narrative which has not been used in any other music video. The song is sung by a fan to Eminem who then sings a verse in response at the end of the song. W see the artist sing the verse but only when writing the letter as if he is saying it to himself. The video contains the fan loving Eminem more than his girlfriend and shows his ridiculous obsession to the star. The narrative is linear as there is no going back and forth between shots. This video is also a single strand narrative as this video focuses around one character - stan. The video ends in a closed narrative as it concludes with a letter back from Eminem but whilst he is writing he realises that Stan has died, at this point it i clear the story rends as there is nothing else to say.
When i'm gone
In the music video of When i'm gone Eminem sings about how he has not been the father he should have been and how he should have been there more for his daughters, he regrets the things that have happened and this shows through the lyrics in the video. This video has a linear narrative however is not set in the current day it is a story told of how he should've been and how he wants to be rather than how he is, the story is told at some sort of AA group and so the story goes back a few years but the story that is told is in a linear narrative. The narrative is also single strand the same as Stan as the whole song is about one subject - his daughter. The video ends as it started in the AA group with everyone applauding Eminem for his story and so this would be seen as a closed narrative.
Not Afraid
In the video for not afraid we can see a narrative based on performance as within this video there is no linear narrative based on the character within the video, you could say the video has a single strand narrative as it is all focused on Eminem however it is based on his performance and not a story within the video.
